Independent living is intended for functionally independent people who are capable of directing their own lives. These residents choose to be free of their home management duties and prefer the convenience of living in a social atmosphere that provides certain services and security. Residents direct their own lives, come and go as they please and participate in activities of their choosing within their community.

Assisted living is the combination of housing, hospitality services and one or two personal assistance services, such as regular assistance with activities of daily living or medication services (referred to in Community Care and Assisted Living Act as prescribed services). Assisted living is intended for people who are able to make the range of decisions that allow them to live in a supportive, semi-independent environment.

Crisis

The the biggest crisis is they don’t have enough spaces for all of our community. And the transition process when the move, trying to get to know the new environment, the new people the new routine.

Finances are always a struggle for some of our seniors in town. But they do have alternative options to offer through other partners in town, maybe lower income of BC housing if they are unable to move into their community.

Community Implications

They boast large bright suites with a variety of floor plans to choose from.The location is also advantageous. It is very close to the shopping malls and supermarkets.They have several amenity spaces for tenants to enjoy & provides a full service dining room and Bistro, as well as an expansive patio. 

Independent/assisted living facilities and services are available. (24-hour professionals); Each floor has a laundry room, library and media room. Three meals a day are provided on time, and there will be no repeat meals every day. Snacks and baking are available throughout the day. They also provide entertainment. Such as organizing games or very festive parties; Sitting exercises and walking clubs are popular activities for them

When they choosing a nursing home for the seniors, price, facilities and quality of service are all necessary considerations. Because for the seniors, having a safe and comfortable environment is also a boost to the development of city and society.

We recognize that no one suggestion will solve the housing crisis in Kamloops, but based on our research, here are some ideas that may help move us even slightly forward.

This place is dedicated to creating the best service and environment while providing more rooms for those in need of the elderly. Opening another institution of the same kind was a priority for them, and they wanted another one. Because more and more old people yearn for this place. It is also important to ensure quality. Be sure to have good facilities and high quality service.
